New Mexico Trout Fly tyers Roundtable

Tying meetings are every Monday night at 7:00 PM at Sandia Prep. The Flytyer's Roundtable brings new and experienced tyers together to exchange ideas, techniques and materials. Fly rod casting through the summer hours!

18th Annual Kids' Fishing Day -- July 26, 2008

Share the joy of fishing with the young one you know -- a friend or family member -- to the 18th Annual Fishing Day for youths ages 4-11 years old on Saturday, July 26 at the Seven Springs Fish Hatchery in the Jemez!

There will be fishing and interactive educational booths, along with exciting hands-on activities to learn about our state fish, fly tying, casting, fishing and creative fish art. The first 250 participants who attend the required number of booths will receive a prize. This event is FREE to the public. For more details, please download the event flyer (PDF format).

2008 New Mexico Trout Volunteer Projects

April 26th, 2008: Rio Guadalupe River and riparian corridor campsite clean up and restoration. Fire ring clean up and removal of debris; removal of multiple fire rings from campsites; river and riparian trash brigade.

May 10th, 2008 : Annual BBQ! Upper Rio Cebolla Kiosk Installation; Upper Rio Cebolla gates and signage and three miles of fencing repair/maintenance.

June 21-22nd, 2008: Mushroom Basin Fencing Project.

TBD/TBA: Buck and pole fence and exclosure building for riparian wildlife habitat (New Mexico Jumping Mouse) that also supports motorized vehicle closures on Rio Cebolla

TBA: Elk exclosure construction and riparian restoration projects on Comanche Creek
