PHWFFI Mission
Dedication to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying education and outings, working through VAMCs and Warrior Transition Units to address the needs of Guard, Reserve, active duty, and veteran personnel. Additional information is available on the PHWFFI web site at www.projecthealingwaters.org.
NMT Mission for PHW
Using the PHWFFI model, share our love of the various aspects of fly fishing to provide an opportunity for wounded active duty personnel and veterans receiving medical care through the VAMC to experience the solitude, mystery, and excitement of fly fishing to aid their recovery and rehabilitation.
Needs of the NMT PHW Program
Our program is just beginning and we need a variety of things to continue to successfully offer our support in Albuquerque.
- Volunteers. We need individuals with patience and good humor to assist with fly tying, fly casting, and fly fishing events. The overall requirement for volunteers is driven by the number of participants we have during the program activities and fluctuates as participants enter and exit the program for a number of reasons.
- Equipment. Fly tying and fly fishing equipment in serviceable condition to include vises, tying tools, materials, waders, and boots.
- Funding. The PHWFFI national organization offers financial support that will cover the basic NMT PHW program. However, additional funds are required to for additional fishing trips that are sponsored by the national organization where all costs, such as air travel are not fully covered. Funds may be donated to support only the NMT PHW program using the NMT donation form and these funds will be earmarked for PHW the program.
