Annual BBQ & Conservation Project

New Mexico Trout members and their families are invited to come up to the Jemez mountains on June 29th for our traditional early season BBQ and work project. The picnic this year will be on the Horn property, a small private parcel along the Rio Cebolla near where FR 376 crosses over the Cebolla. Some of you may remember the Horn property as the site of our 2015 restoration workshop that was taught by Bill Zeedyk.

The Horn family are generously allowing us to use their property for the picnic. In return, we will pick up any trash or debris in the area. We also need volunteers to complete a short section of a vehicle barrier about a quarter mile up FR 376 from the Rio Cebolla crossing. We built fencing near there previously to keep vehicles from driving across a wet meadow. Now it needs a short extension to close off a part that off-roaders are driving around.

The picnic site will be accessible starting at 9:00 AM, Saturday, June 29. We will start working on the vehicle barriers once enough volunteers arrive.

A BBQ lunch from Rudy’s will be provided for members and their families who RSVP by noon Wednesday, June 26. In the meantime, if your membership has lapsed, this will be a good time to renew it.

We will send detailed directions to the site for those who RSVP by Wednesday, June 26.
