Beginners Fly Tying Class

New Mexico Trout will be offering a 5-week Beginners Fly Tying Class, starting on August 6,2026.

Details:

  • Classes will be held at the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, 501 Elizabeth St NE [map]
  • The class will be limited to 10 students.
  • All classes will be on the first Thursday night of each month. 5:30 to 8:30 PM  – Aug 6,  Sept 3,  Oct 1,  Nov 5, Dec 3
  • The cost for the course is $20 for New Mexico Trout members and $40.00 for non-members
  • A manual for fly tying basics and all of the required fly tying equipment and materials will be provided.

The 5-class course will cover the following:

  • Class 1. Introduction to tools and basic fly-tying techniques
  • Classes 2–5. Four different fly patterns will be tied starting with basic techniques and each fly will build on techniques learned in the previous classes.
