New Mexico Trout is planning a group outing to the White Mountain Apache Reservation on the last weekend of May, May 29th – May 31st. The lake doesn’t open until Memorial Day, so this is the first weekend it is available. This a one of the tribe’s Rent-A-Lake offerings and we plan on renting the lake for the entire three days. No one else will have access to it at this time. The dates will be confirmed once the reservation has been made.
The lake sits at 9000 feet elevation and is 37 acres in size.
Camping costs are included with the lake rental and there is enough room for up to 30 moderate sized rigs. No electricity or water hookups are provided so if you are camping plan accordingly.
There is a campground next to the lake for those that would like to camp or there are lodging options in Greer or the Hondah/Pinetop area. Pinetop is approximately 20 miles away and Greer is approximately 26.5 miles away.
The cost will be $75 for the lake and fishing permit per person.
We have had enough responses to the newsletter and monthly gathering announcements that we’ll reserve the lake as soon as it is allowed. We’ll start taking paid reservations in mid-March.
