New Mexico Trout is offering its first Lake Fly-Fishing Clinic on Saturday, September 27th.

These clinics are open to members of New Mexico Trout only. If you are not a member of New Mexico Trout but would like to attend the lake fishing clinic you can join online here.

Where – Hopewell Lake Pavilion, Saturday September 27, 10:00 am [website]

What – Learn how to effectively fish lakes from our lake guru Dave Klosterman, learn about different types of gear that can be used to effectively fish lakes. We will also have a few extra float tubes, pontoon boats and PFDs, if you don’t have your own, for use. Please bring your PFD if you have one. If you are on the lake without one you can be cited.

What to expect

Starting at 10:00 am we will cover some basic lake fishing strategies and gear.

At about 10:30 am, we will take what was presented and hit the lake for fishing time.

We will break about 12:30 or 1:00 pm for a group lunch. If enough people are interested we can provide a BBQ lunch from Rudy’s and answer questions that you may have after your morning of fishing.

After lunch we will continue fishing.

Dave and Brian will be at the campground adjacent to Hopewell Lake Friday and Saturday evening and invite any who would like to drag up a camper, or tent, or whatever you like to sleep in to do so and join us. We will have an area set aside to share our evening meals together and socialize.

Please respond to Brian at vicepresident@newmexicotrout.org if you are planning to attend and if you are interested in the BBQ lunch. I will get a cost together as soon as I can get an idea of numbers so please respond sooner rather than later. Please include your phone number, so we can contact you if needed, number in your group, let me know if you have a rod setup for everyone in your party, a PFD, and water craft.
